Sunday Hike: Potato Chip Rock

This past Sunday I went on an adventure to discover potato chip rock with my hiking buddy from class. There are two different trails leading to this rock, but we decided to hike the shorter (4 mile round trip) trail. If only we knew what we were getting ourselves into…

The short trail led us up a very steep path through the mountain. We’re both in good shape but the amount of energy that went into walking this trail had us exhausted and breathing like two fat kids who just ran a mile. However, the view going up was awesome and seemed to get better and better every time we turned around to see how far we had come. At the top of the mountain it was a little strange because the path led us through a whole bunch of electric towers, and right after the electrical towers we came across potato chip rock. Honestly, I thought it would be a lot bigger so I was a little disappointed, but it was still pretty neat!

The hike down was definitely easier, and the surrounding mountains were so pretty. Next time I would like to try the longer trail (~7 miles round trip). So in case you decide to hike to potato chip rock and choose the shorter trail, just be prepared…
